Our Client, a Multinational mining company located in North Sumatra is seeking an:
ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGER
Reporting to the Project Director, the Environmental Manager manages all the Company’s environmental planning, monitoring, controlling, rehabilitation and education activities through the development, operations and eventual closure stages in order to satisfy the requirements of the Company and the government and to ensure that all activities are conducted to international safety, environmental, quality and cost control standards.
The key accountabilities include:
- Plan, develop and implement the Environment Department's strategic, business and financial plans so that environmental activities are consistent with the Company’s business goals and government regulations.
- Develop and implement environmental monitoring programs, policies and procedures to prevent or minimise any negative environmental impacts during the construction, operation and closure of the mine.
- Ensure that the mining and ancillary activities meet or exceed the requirements and obligations as set out in the AMDAL documents and are in accordance with international best practice.
- Manage and monitor the Department’s budget, plan capital expenditure outlays, regularly check actual costs against plan and where necessary review plans so that all activities are conducted within budget.
- Liaise and maintain cordial relations with government departments that impact on the Department, for example, environmental regulations, permits, data gathering, baseline studies.
- Manager an ongoing health impact assessment of the Company’s operations based on a comprehensive baseline study.
The successful candidate will possess the following key criteria:
- Degree at S1 level or equivalent in an appropriate Environmental Engineering or Science discipline, or equivalent training and experience with preferably a relevant S2 qualification.
- Minimum of 8 -10 years experience, preferably with some in remote mining areas, in a broad range of environmental management activities.
- Financial skills to handle project and budget responsibilities.
- Computer literate in the Microsoft range of Office programs including spreadsheets, statistics programs and databases.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, in both English and Indonesian, to liaise with internal and external contacts at both national and international levels.
- High performing leadership.
- Advanced analytical and problem solving ability and planning skills.
